The Tonganoxie School District is searching for Special Education Paraeducators for Tonganoxie High School. These individuals would work with students with intellectual or physical disabilities. Duties include instructing small group and individual students under the direction of a licensed special education teacher and assisting students with functional daily living skills.

Job Description: Special Education Para-Educator

• The person in this position works under the direct supervision of a teacher, provides assistance in implementing plans and programs related to the academic or functional skill attainment for students with mental, physical, academic, behavioral and/or emotional learning challenges.

• Works directly with students, individually or in small groups.

• This may require lifting or assisting with personal needs.

• Person will work 6 hours 50 minutes per day, Monday through Friday.

• Starting pay is $11.65 for non-degreed applicants with no verifiable education-related work experience.

• Additional salary compensation provided for associates degree and above, as well as for each full year of verifiable education-related work experience (Ex: teacher, para-educator, preschool, classroom aide, coach, child care facility, etc.).
• The district pays a portion of health insurance.
